About
the program
How does MangaNUR work?
It downloads HTML from MangaNews' website, extracts the releases and news,
and displays them. So if MangaNews changes their design, MangaNUR will
not work anymore (in this case, check for the update).
No Help file??
There isn't any, at least for now. I believe anyone with adequate computer
knowledge can use the program easily.
Is it really free?
Hmm... it is free, but not really. You have to:
- tell me one thing you like the most from the program,
- tell me one thing you hate the most from the program,
- tell me one suggestion to improve the program,
- tell at least one of your friends about this program (refer him/her
to this website).
Can I put the program at my website / distribute it?
Feel free to do so. I will be very grateful if you do, as it spreads the
program faster. But, do not make any profit from it and please tell me
where you distribute it.
May I have the source code?
Free software does not mean open source. However, I have created a lite
version of MangaNUR for you to learn from. Download it here.
It is not the source code of the actual program, but it covers the basic
functionality of MangaNUR: downloading releases from MangaNews.
Troubleshooting
I clicked "Open website" but nothing happened!
You must specify the address. Add the titles you like (in MyManga)
first, and then type in the website's address. I hope in the next version
you don't need to type the URL manually, but for v1.0 and v1.1, this is
the only way. Sorry!
It says MSVBVM60.DLL is required!
Download the file here
and extract it to your System folder (or the folder where mangaNUR is
in).
I ticked "Auto-check releases every x minutes", but nothing
happened!
If your computer is always online (e.g. cable), tick "My computer
is always online".
Otherwise leave the program for x minutes, if there are any updates, it
will display them.
A message appears saying "Unable to download HTML file."
Please check your Internet connection. Can you open other websites?
Another possibility is that the server of MangaNews is down at the moment.
In this case, please wait a few hours.
I have the program run at startup, but it doesn't run in system tray
automatically.
Please use /s as the parameter. So, if the program is located at
C:\Manga\MangaNUR.exe, you would type this
to run it:
"C:\Manga\MangaNUR.exe" /s
Suggestions?
To have the program check for updates every x (less than 60) minutes
It is possible to do so, e.g. to check for updates every 5 minutes, but
MangaNews will have a problem with their bandwidth. Bandwidth is limited,
you know. And we don't want our favorite site be closed because of this
matter.
To include some .wav files
in the .zip
Anyone kind enough to send me some? Your own, please. I don't want to
have problems with copyright.
To improve the interface
of the program
Although I like the current interface, some users told me it looks ugly.
Hmm... v2 will have a completely new interface, so be patient ^^
