Keystroke Panic

Sorry, the program is not available anymore.

McAfee and Norton has included it in their virus list as a trojan. When I created the program, what I had in mind was that people will use the program wisely (for joke and security system). I never put any virus in it, nor I want to harm your system. Unfortunately some people abused the program, so I decided to remove it from my web site.

I apologize to all previous victims of Keystroke Panic.

Removing Keystroke Panic

You can remove it manually:

  1. Click at the Start menu, and then click Run...
  2. Type regedit, and then click OK.
  3. Open this key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Run, and then delete a string value named DATCHECK.
  4. Restart your computer and your keyboard should work.

You can also do the following (submitted by josh60nine@hotmail.com):

  1. Click at the start menu, and then click Run...
  2. Type msconfig, and then click OK.
  3. Click at a tab named Startup.
  4. Uncheck a checkbox named DATCHECK.
  5. Restart your computer.

A tip - if you cannot type normally in your computer, you will need to copy-paste the characters into the Run textbox (open a text file, find the required character in it, copy it, and then paste it into the textbox). Don't worry, they are only 8 characters long.

A replacement for Keystroke Panic is available! This new program is much safer and gives the same fun as Keystroke Panic does. It's even faster and compatible with Windows 95, 98, Me, 2000, and XP.
